Speakers of Anambra and Enugu Houses of Assembly have dismissed the idea of initiating a grazing bill in their legislatures saying that such a notion has never been considered at all.
Speaking in separate interviews during the South East Speakers Conference in Enugu on Saturday, Anambra Speaker Barr. Rita Maduagwu noted that the Assembly had earlier condemned the idea, ” we have no such intention at all” she said.
Also reacting on the issue Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi said there is no chance of such a bill in Enugu State. He however, noted that there is a growing understanding between the people of the state and herdsmen informing that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is building a good relationship amongst residents of the state.
In her address during the inauguration of the South East Legislative and Governance Reform Committee, chairman of the South East Speakers Conference and Anambra Speaker Rita Maduagwu said the forum will position the Assemblies to promote, share and adapt effective legislative/governance reforms and learning across the region.
“Our interest is to coordinate the implementation of legislative reforms that will improve service as well as identify best legislative practices and share among the South East legislatures for adoption.”
