In response to the 2019 general elections timetable released last week by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the reelection campaign posters of Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has now flooded the state.
The campaign posters bearing the logo of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) with the inscriptions, “No Vacancy in 2019” emanated from a group known as “Mbakwe Gburugburu Continuity in 2019″.
.Apparently the earlier posters was “our way of telling the public that there is no alternative to Ugwuanyi,” stressing that, it was also to “mobilise and prepare the public towards his reelection for another four years.”
State chairman of the party, Augustine Nnamani, said rather than begin campaign for governorship with posting of posters; the group should channel their efforts towards mobilizing voters for the ongoing registration exercise in the state.
Nnamani said:
“The Party appreciates the goodwill and solidarity of the group and other related associations, but wishes to state that what is ultimate in its agenda at the moment is total mobilisation of eligible voters in the state to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the forthcoming general elections.
“The Party, therefore, appeals to the groups to channel their efforts towards the Voters’ Registration, which would ensure the actualisation of our ultimate goal in 2019.”
