Benue State Government appointees today pledged their loyalty to Governor Samuel Ortom towards the realization of his re-election in 2019 on the platform of any political party.

They made the pledge at the New Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House in Makurdi during their meeting with the Governor.

Those who spoke were Mr Abraham Saint Gbilekaa, General Manager, Benue State Urban Development Board, Mr Joseph Nyam, Chairman of the State’s Scholarship Board, Professor John Ibu, Chairman, Board of Management of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, as well as Dr Magdalene Dura, Special Adviser on Development Cooperation.
The speakers represented the three Senatorial Districts in the state as well as women.

According to them, anywhere the Governor would go, they would follow him as their faith in his leadership qualities remained unshaken.

Governor Ortom had briefed the appointees on the frosty relationship between him and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state and his difficulty in operating in the same party with it.

He said the leadership of the party at the national level had scheduled a meeting to try to resolve their differences in Abuja in a few days time and that he would announce his final decision on party membership thereafter.

The Governor said whatever decision he would take will reflect the wishes and aspirations of the people of Benue State but will not be imposed on any of the appointees.
