Governor Samuel Ortom’s schedule today included a meeting with labor and officials from the Ministry of Finance and office of the Head of Service to sort out salary issues.
He also chaired a meeting of the State Security Council.
But the greatest excitement at the Benue Peoples House was his hosting of international female football star, Francisca Ordega, and a delegation from the Invincible Angels Football Club of Gboko.
Miss Ordega extolled the role of the founder of the club, Michael Chur, in her career and those of her contemporaries and urged the state government to take over its sponsorship in his honor.
She commended the Governor for standing up for the people of the state in difficult times and announced that she would visit some of the camps for those displaced by the current crisis and make some donations.
Governor Ortom commended her for making the people of the state proud by her exploits in football and expressed appreciation to Mr Chur who he said has demonstrated ability in disability.
He said it was difficult for the state to take over the funding of the club completely but gave it financial support of five million naira pledging to do more subsequently.
The Governor also received the people of Mbatoho community in Makurdi local government area sacked by Fulani herdsmen and directed the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency to provide relief items to them.
He promised that security agents would chase away the invaders so that they could return to their homes soon.
The Governor earlier in the day received a delegation from Health Finace and Governance who visited with officials from the Benue State Aids Control Agency.
