Governor Samuel Ortom has donated five million naira as financial assistance to Invincible Angels Female Football Club, Gboko.
He announced this today during a courtesy call on him by some Benue Born female footballers led by Miss Francisca Mlumun Ordega, an international football star.
Governor Ortom said the assistance was to encourage the management of the team led by a physically challenged, Apostle Chur Michael Randy, who serves as the team manager.
He expressed happiness that the girls had made Benue and Nigeria proud by their brilliant performances in various clubs, even as he encouraged them to be good ambassadors of the state.
Governor Ortom congratulated Apostle Chur for not allowing his disability to weigh him down, stressing that he had demonstrated that there could be ability even in disability.
Miss Ordega said she broke into tears when she saw the plight of victims of attacks on Benue communities by militia herdsmen on the internet while overseas saying she came to also sympathize with some of the affected.
She stated that she was proud of the manner Governor Ortom handled the attacks and promised to help tell the Benue story to the international community in her little way.
While announcing the donation of some relief materials to the displaced persons on behalf of her NGO, Francisca Mlumun Ordega Foundation, the international female footballer appealed for the takeover of Invincible Angels Football Club Gboko by the state government.
She also presented some Jerseys to the Governor and his wife as well as her portrait which she said she cherished.
