Chairman of the APC in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye, expressed happiness over the decision of President Buhari to seek a second tenure in 2019, after the meeting of the National Executive Committee, (NEC) of the party held in Abuja last Monday.
He recalled that the APC in the state was the first to endorse President Buhari for second tenure, pointing out that the decision of the President to seek re-election was for the best interest of the country and not for selfish desire.
When asked to comment on low performance of APC in Southeast geo-political zone, Nwonye insisted that the 2015 Presidential election in Enugu was manipulated and rigged by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing, however, that
“The APC did their best to prevent opponents of Buhari from committing election irregularities in the state.
“We will not have any candidate of APC extraction to challenge Buhari here in Enugu State. Enugu State APC was the first to endorse President Buhari for second term in office.
His decision to contest for second tenure is not a selfish desire, and for that you are going to see a different thing in terms of the result”,
He, however, assured that President Buhari would perform well in Enugu State come 2019, pointing out that the situation on ground now was different from the situation before the president assumed office.
