As part of the requirements by CAF for the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu to be eligible to host the return Leg of the CAF Champions league match between Enugu Rangers and JS Saora of Algeria scheduled to hold on the 19th February 2017, The Commisioner for Sports Chidi Aroh on instruction from Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is putting all resources together to upgrade the stadium before the match.
Some structures have been mapped out for demolition, Particularly those responsible for blocking the sewage system and making the stadium toilets unusable and those that pose a threat to human lives.
Some of the owners of these illegal structures claim to have acquired the licence to setup these structures towards the end of the previous government. Demolishing these illegal structures will most likely make a bad man of this very religious governor even though it’s the right thing to do. Though it was still government officials that constructed those structures and put them out on rent.
