Speaking at the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel Ado Ekiti where a special church service for the commencement of the 2018/2019 legal year was held, the governor said he is poised for the restoration of Ekiti state to “a land of abundance and peace”.
Governor Fayemi who stressed that God had enabled him return as governor of Ekiti State for a second term for a purpose said his government desired the prayers and admonition of Ekiti people whom he had come to serve.
Fayemi’s brief comments at the church service is not unconnected to his earlier stance that he had not returned on a vendetta mission but to reclaim the State, restore its glory and right the wrongs of the past.
Earlier in his sermon, the Anglican Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Rt. Rev Christopher Omotunde had called on the judiciary to shun bias and dispense justice without fear or favour.
Omotunde who charged judges not to deviate from the principles of justice and fairness warned against perversion of justice; stating that members of the Bench were God’s representatives and should discharge their duties with the fear of God.
Governor Fayemi read the first lesson of the service from Deuteronomy chapter 1 verses 16 to 18 while the Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola took the second reading from Matthew 7 vs 1 to 12.
In attendance at the service were the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, his wife Margret Egbeyemi, the Chief Judge of the State, Hon Justice Ayodeji Daramola who led other judges to the church, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Wale Fapohunda, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Biodun Oyebanji and other dignitaries.
